Teacher may have given flutes contaminated with bodily fluids to children

TRABUCO HILLS – State and federal agencies are investigating an incident in which a teacher may have distributed hand-made flutes contaminated with human body fluids to children.

The California Department of Justice and the United States Postal Service are investigating an anonymous music teacher for donating flutes to several southern California school districts, including the Fountain Valley, Capistrano and Newport Mesa agencies, the Orange County Register reported.

The brightly colored plastic flutes in question may have gone to children as part of the Flutes Across the World music program, the Fountain Valley School District principal told the Register.

Lawyer John Manly, who represents victims of sexual abuse, said CBS Los Angeles that “until our culture, our education system, our law enforcement agencies and our society take the protection of children seriously, this will continue.”

Schools that could have been affected are Courreges Primary School in Fountain Valley and Sonora Primary School in Costa Mesa.
