The Marvelous Flutes are inspired by John Williams Star wars and AND, and that of John Powell How to train your dragon, among others, with the pairing of flutes and piccolo, sounding an octave higher. Spitfire Audio says the sounds were performed by “London’s first session players” and are presented as pre-orchestrated patches with legato, long, staccato and marcato articulations. Major and minor bites are also included.

The library was recorded by multiple Grammy award-winning Simon Rhodes, whose credits include Avatar, Hugo and Harry potter, using Abbey Road’s stellar line of pickups and outboard gear. According to the British software developer, its recording philosophy is “to always record sample libraries the same way movie scores are recorded, and Wondrous Flutes is no exception.”

Spitfire Audio’s new instrument spans Abbey Road One: Orchestral Foundations, in which the brand recorded a 90-piece symphony orchestra in the legendary Abbey Road Studio One. Wonderful flutes can be combined with orchestral foundations and subsequent instruments or used as a stand-alone library in their own right.

Wondrous Flutes’ GUI follows that of its siblings, housed in the Spitfire Audio plug-in and sporting a minimal look with only essential settings. You can mix 12 different signals and 10 mic positions to compose the sound you want from the eight available performances. Spitfire says that “[its] plug-in was designed by composers, for composers ”. You can host it in major DAWs as a VST2, VST3, AU, AAX, and NKS compatible plug-in.

Wondrous Flutes is available now for £ 49 / $ 49 / € 49. Learn more about spitfireaudio.com.
